project description
Visible Threads is a project that helps students learn about different brain health struggles and how to advocate for a brain health issue that connects mostly with us or we want to learn more about. We had to find a topic that we were passionate about and got put into groups. The tasks we were given were to create t shirts to sell that advocate for the issue we picked as a group and come up with different activities for NAMI, an event we exhibited at.. We met with different professionals to receive feedback on our different drafts. The whole purpose of this project is to advocate for mental health and help people see that it is okay to be different. My groups topic was The Transgender Brain and we researched why transgenders are the way they are and how their brain works.

how have I evolved as a teen brain health advocate?
Before this project, I still felt the same way about people who are transgender as I do now. Transgender people are people just like you and I, they just feel differently about themselves. They dont have a mental illness, they're not crazy, and they aren't weird. They are human and want to live just as much as anyone else. They want to go to school, have a life when they're older, and they don’t want to be judged for who they are.
